Job
Responsibilities:
Identify, assess, and qualify novel raw materials essential for the advancement of new products and enhancements to existing products.
Assume a leadership role in trials related to new product development and/or the approval of raw materialsProvide valuable recommendations for improvements and compile comprehensive result summaries.
Design and execute experiments aimed at developing and validating product performance.
Foster extensive collaboration with both internal technical personnel and external vendors to comprehend performance requirements for new product development.
Prepare and present Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical documents, and descriptions to the commercial team, contributing to the assessment of innovation value.
Regularly compose monthly reports for internal communications.
Stay informed about the latest developments in new or emerging raw materials and processing technologies.
Manage and supervise Research and Development (R&D) projects and project teams.
Contribute insights for the strategic direction of research and development, focusing on new materials and material structures.
Provide support for R&D projects from conception through commercialization and integration into customer operations.
Take responsibility for reporting food packaging safety issues to plant managementIn the absence of the incumbent, transfer these responsibilities to the SrManager of Technology.
Special
Qualifications:
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, showcasing the ability to effectively convey ideas internally and to customers.
Engage with suppliers and technical support to remain updated on new and existing polymer systems, processing and converting equipment, physical property testing techniques, and packaging equipment.
Possess a high-level understanding of materials science and analytical skills, with experience in analytical/characterization methods such as DSC, FTIR, TMA, TGA, etc.
Exhibit a strong comprehension of material behavior during extrusion and thermoforming.
Demonstrate a high level of motivation to achieve planned objectives and results.
Adhere to and be trained in company policies on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation programs, chemical control, and food safety plans and policies.
Be competent in executing responsibilities related to food packaging safety and quality.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the development of polymeric materials, structures, and products.
Education:
Minimum Master of Science in Polymer/Plastics Engineering; Ph.
Dpreferred.
